In celebration of this past year, and to "wrap up" our choral season, we celebrated the Feast of St. Barnabas on Thursday, June 10th, at 7:30 PM (with incense!). The Rev'd Allan Warren, Rector of The Church of the Advent on Beacon Hill in Boston, was our guest preacher.
To read more about the Apostle Barnabas, nicknamed "son of encouragement," read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnabas. Acts 14.8-.18 In the city of Lystra, Paul heals a man. This causes a riot, during which the people shout in their native dialect that Paul and Barnabas are gods come to earth. They call Barnabas, Zeus and Paul, Hermes. In this study by Raphael, Barnabas can be seen attempting to prevent a needless sacrifice.
